PAIN TREATMENTS
Physiotherapy in Pain
Different types of techniques are used, from a myofascial approach.
Fascia can be defined as a network of connective tissue that surrounds all the structures of our body in a three-dimensional way, connecting them to each other, providing support and determining their shape. Its route is continuous, so any structural change in a certain part of the body can produce restrictions in another area far from it. This structural change in the fascia is called “Myofascial Dysfunction” and can be caused by different types of trauma, not only blows or falls, but also surgery, painful menstruation or, for example, an inadequate posture maintained over time.
Myofascial Induction is a method of assessment and treatment that aims to eliminate fascial restrictions by applying a combination of sustained pressure, specific positioning and very gentle stretching.
In cases where the pain is related to a poor postural attitude, we combine this treatment with postural correction work.
Physiotherapy at the center is in charge of Antonia Frontera. Manual techniques of manual therapy and myofascial induction are performed, completing the treatment, posture integration, home exercises and recommendations on ADLs (activities of daily living), with the aim of overcoming the symptom, the pain.
Osteopathy in Pain
The osteopathy treatments are provided by Marina Canals and María José Gil.
Osteopathic treatment for pain seeks the origin of the pain to relieve it and also overcome the symptom so that it does not recur or become chronic.
As mentioned above, in a first visit, an anamnesis (interview) is carried out in which the current symptom is asked, the circumstances under which it has appeared, whether it is a known or new symptom, duration…, and it is also asked about habits, medical history, complementary tests… The patient is then examined with a series of general tests and other more specific ones depending on the location of the pain. With all this information, a hypothesis is developed about the origin of the pain that is explained to the patient and a treatment is proposed.
Normally between 3 and 5 sessions there is usually a change. Between sessions, 15 days to a month or more are left, depending on the case and the intensity of the pain.
If there is not enough change, we usually recommend other alternatives or treatments that complement what is being done or refer the patient to another professional.
In our center only manual techniques are used. The treatment is gentle and is based mainly on biodynamic osteopathy, a non-invasive and very respectful technique.
