We work with babies, children, teenagers and adults.

The reason for consultation in babies is usually infant colic, although during the first year of life a series of visits is recommended in relation to optimal development (about 5 visits per year during the first year). For those who want to continue care during infancy, 1 visit per year is recommended.

There are frequent processes during childhood in which osteopathy can give relief. As mentioned above, the aim of osteopathy is to promote health and self-healing mechanisms, which are very present in childhood.

During the first 5-6 years of life, otitis, bronchitis, bronchiolitis, diarrhoea and constipation are frequent. The immune system is reactive in the digestive tract and respiratory system (where most of the immune system is located in childhood), so an isolated process does not constitute a problem, but when the kid enters in a repetition of a symptom or an -itis, the therapeutic act can break this circle and stimulate the immune system to get out of the process.

Behavioural and sleep disturbances are also frequent and can be treated not only from osteopathy but also from the understanding of the family system and learned behaviours and habits.

Later on, from 6-7 years of age, signs may be present in relation to deformities of the rib cage and spine: pectus excavatum, carinatum, idiopathic scoliosis and juvenile kyphosis or Scheuermann’s kyphosis are the most frequent structural disorders during growth. Clinical observation ensures that warning signs are detected early and that treatment, if necessary, is carried out early. The child is not treated regularly until medical tests (X-ray,…) documents that there is a progression.

In adolescents, the most common consultation tends to be postural problems ( poor posture, rounded back,…) or spine disorders. The patient comes with the medical tests already carried out. For this type of patients at the centre there are working groups according to the Rigo Concept-BSPTS Method (Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School – initially based on the Schroth method with modifications carried out by Dr. Rigo at the Barcelona school).

In adults, the most common consultation is pain and therefore we look for the cause. Like osteopaths we listen to the patient´s symptoms, change focus on health and how to achieve it.

In all cases the approach is integrative aimed to the individual and taking in account his environment, work, family and circumstances.
